I Published My First Weekly Newsletter And I am Scared!
Sharing My Journey Through Data, AI, and the Fear of Being Seen

This past week, I proudly published my first edition of “This Week in Data & AI with Mukundan” for my Substack publication “Data & AI with Mukundan.” It’s a moment of immense pride for me, a culmination of my hard work and dedication. But I also admit that a tinge of nervousness comes with putting my thoughts out there for the world to see.
This Week in Data & AI with Mukundan (TWIDM) - Weekly Digest
Here is what happened this week in Data & AI with Mukundan!open.substack.com
Proud Moment: My thoughts are out there in the world, and someone on the other end will read it.
Scary Moment: My thoughts are out there in the world, and someone on the other end will read it (AND JUDGE ME!).
Notice how those sentences in the “Proud Moment” and “Scary Monet” sound so similar, with just a slight difference! A subtle but essential difference! Most of us face this, mainly when we publish our first piece of content.
Now, this wasn’t my first post. This Week in Data & AI with Mukundan” is a weekly digest of all the content I released this week in my publication and what I learned. This content includes podcasts, blogs, tips in the Data & AI world, and learnings along the way.
Every time I release new content, I send out separate notes on Substack, which would help my subscribers be aware of it and ask new readers to subscribe should they find it beneficial.
This weekly digest is different. It is not just one blog podcast or tip but a combination of all for the week. It is a link to each of the content that went and a one-sentence description of what that content is to get the subscriber invested in 5 seconds or less if they want to read this content further or not. I calculated the 5-second statistic from this article.
If your reader reads your weekly content in one place, it could be a Make or Break situation! If they read only one blog or listen to a podcast episode you release, they may think, “This content is irrelevant to me. Let’s move on to something else. The next content this creator will release may be relevant to me.”
However, with a weekly digest of all your content in one place, you will find more subscribers or new potential subscribers tuning out! A subscriber might think, “Their content isn’t relevant to me; let me unsubscribe.” A new potential subscriber might think, “This does not sound interesting; let me mute this author.”
Are these fears irrational? Absolutely! But I refuse to let them dictate my actions. I’ve decided not to let them hold me back anymore! I’ve let them win too many times in the past. My journey with Fear is ongoing, but I’m determined to keep moving forward. It’s not just one chapter; it’s a whole book of courage and resilience.
I appreciate and love the concern my Fear is showing me! I know it loves me, and I love it back! That is why, despite my Fear’s concern, one of the first things I started with was a link to my Weekly Digest on Substack! Hoping you, as a new reader, find it interesting. I hope my existing readers continue to support and invest in my success!
Do you feel Fear when you release your content? Let me know how you battle your fears! Share your experiences in the comments or via email. Let’s ride this journey together and continue supporting one another!
